the original Steampunk

Consider this a trailer, even though an entire movie is included. The following website has the 8-part series posted, which I intend to watch at some point. In the meantime, take a look at Part 1:

This is a Czech film from 1958, made behind the Iron Curtain, that was adapted from a Jules Verne novel. (Hey wasn’t that crazy Alice movie Stuart reviewed a Czech production, too? What’s in the water there?)

  1. Good ‘ol Ruskies . . . this is fascinating. Technically, I would argue most Jules Verne stories count as Steampunk, so I suppose this qualifies as the first Steampunk movie.
